Davy Crockett Ranch Review (2024)

We were thrilled to stay at Disney Davy Crockett Ranch for the first time. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were at an American-style camp straight out of the movies. The central area, with its reception, restaurant, saloon, and firepit, created a cozy hub, while the cabins branched out along their own charming roads.

So, let’s dive into the details of our stay in our review of Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch.

Davy Crockett Ranch Character Meet & Greets

If you follow us on our socials, you’ll know we love meeting characters at the parks and hotels. All the on-site hotels at Disneyland Paris offer character meet and greets in the morning or afternoon, so we expected to see a few characters at the Ranch, especially since its mascots are Chip and Dale.

Unfortunately, the Ranch doesn’t have Disney Character meet and greets, which is a little disappointing. The grounds would be perfect for the cheeky chipmunks to make an appearance and add an extra touch of magic to the stay.

Disney Davy Crockett Ranch Location

Disney Davy Crockett Ranch offers a unique retreat nestled in a serene forest setting, providing a peaceful escape from the bustling Disneyland Paris parks. Located around 7km from the park, this unique Disney accommodation is classified as off-site, but the ‘hotel’ offers much more than any other Disneyland Paris hotel.

Doesn’t offer a free shuttle bus – Ubers are available!

One key thing to note is that there is no free shuttle bus service from the Ranch to the parks. However, guests staying at the Ranch will enjoy the benefit of free parking at Disneyland Paris, making it convenient for those who prefer to drive.

As we flew from the UK, we opted to use Uber for our trips to and from the parks. This turned out to be a convenient and efficient option. The price varied between 12-15 euros each way, and the journey took about 10-15 minutes (depending on time and traffic).

The best part was that the Uber would drop us off and pick us up right outside our cabin, adding an extra layer of convenience. However, it’s worth noting that on the first night we stayed to watch the fireworks, it was more difficult to get an Uber. We have had this experience when staying at other off-site hotels, and we found that pre-booking the time, or going to enjoy a cocktail or a browse in World of Disney allowed the crowds to leave and made booking an Uber much easier!

Whether you choose to drive or take an Uber, be assured that getting to the magic of Disneyland Paris from Davy Crockett Ranch is easy!

Davy Crockett Ranch Check-in

After an early flight from the UK, we landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport and opted for an Uber to take us directly to Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. We arrived at the Ranch around 10:30 am, excited to check-in and explore the ranch before heading to the parks.

At check-in, the cast member was incredibly helpful and welcoming. She explained all the amenities the Ranch has to offer, including the pool, the activities available, and what to expect in our cabin. She also provided us with a voucher to redeem a free cleaning kit from the on-site store, which included dishwasher detergent, cleaning products, a sponge, and a dishcloth—an unexpected but thoughtful touch!

Seeing our luggage, the cast member asked if we had driven. When we mentioned we had taken an Uber from the UK, she smiled and informed us that our cabin was ready immediately, which was a stroke of luck. We later discovered that the Ranch doesn’t have a luggage storage facility, unlike other Disney hotels that offer this service for free. Disney typically states that cabins will be ready from 3 pm, so keep this in mind when booking your stay if you’re not driving your own car (or rental) to Davy Crockett Ranch.

She also said that, unlike traditional hotels, the cabins do not include daily housekeeping, and if we needed fresh towels or additional supplies, we would need to request them at reception or at the on-site store.

Overall, our check-in experience was smooth and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for our stay at Disney Davy Crockett Ranch.

We had booked a Premium cabin, and one of the main benefits was its proximity to the Ranch’s amenities. The Cast Member then highlighted our cabin on the resort map and handed us the cabin key, an actual physical key, which was surprising and we headed off to our cabin!

Our Davy Crockett Ranch Cabin

Before we talk about our room and experience we wanted to share with you the type of cabins available at Davy Crockett Ranch. The cabins are virtually identical, with the main difference being the distance away from the facilities.

  • First up, we’ve got the Trapper Tribe Cabin. This room type offers 1 double bed and 4 single beds (including 1 pull out). These cabins are located the furthest distance away from the facilities and entrance.
  • The Pioneer Tribe Cabins also offers 1 double bed and 4 single beds (including 1 pull out).
  • Finally they offer the Premium Plus-bungalow. This cabin also offers 1 double bed and 4 single beds (including 1 pull-out). These are located close to the hotel facilities and offers guests some additional extras such as a Nespresso Coffee Machine instead of a standard kettle, hair dryers,  bathrobes, and slippers, and the cleaning kit.

Now, let’s talk about our cabin!

Opting for a Premium cabin was a great decision, as these are located closer to the main amenities like the pool, store, and reception, saving us time walking to our cabin. It only took us 8 minutes to walk from reception to our cabin!

Arriving at our cabin, we entered the open-plan kitchen and living area, with a comfortable sofa and a dining table perfect for family meals. The layout reminded us of a large caravan, offering both charm and functionality.

The kitchen itself was fully equipped with plates, pans, and other essentials, allowing us to easily prepare meals during our stay. These kitchen facilities are ideal for self-catering, so bringing groceries or shopping at the on-site store can help you save money if you choose to enjoy meals in the comfort of your cabin.

At either end of the cabin were the bedrooms. The bedroom to the left featured a double bed and an ensuite bathroom, providing privacy and convenience. On the right, the second bedroom housed three single beds, with an additional pull-out single bed, making it ideal for larger families or groups. Between the kitchen area and the bedrooms, we found a separate shower room and toilet, which would be great for families where multiple people are trying to get ready in the morning.

Each cabin also comes with a private deck featuring a picnic table and BBQ grill. This area would be great on those warmer summer evenings, adding to the camping ambiance and allowing us to fully enjoy the space.

Davy Crockett Ranch Restaurant: Crocketts Tavern

As Davy Crockett Ranch offers self-catering cabins, the hotel only features one restaurant, Crockett’s Tavern. As the cheapest of all Disney buffets, the all-you-can-eat buffet offered great value for money without compromising on quality or variety.

We appreciated the option to dine both indoors and outdoors. The indoor seating area was cozy and welcoming, while the outdoor area allowed us to enjoy the warm summer evening. Dining outside in the central hub of the ranch added to the immersion.

One of our favorite parts of the restaurant was the outdoor barbecue. Although it’s not available every night, we were fortunate to enjoy it during our visit. The smoky BBQ aroma and freshly grilled meats added a special touch to our meal. The indoor part of the restaurant offers a wide selection of food options. The sight of chefs working behind the counters added an interactive element to the dining experience, showcasing the care and skill that goes into preparing each dish.

Crockett’s Tavern also caters wonderfully to families with a dedicated kids section. Our little ones enjoyed chicken nuggets, fish fingers, and other kid-friendly options, which kept them happy and satisfied.

The dessert selection is always a key area. We noticed a lot of similar desserts to other restaurants, but some we found unique to the ranch. We particularly enjoyed the pecan pie (which you can also get from Cowboy BBQ Cookout within Frontierland). It was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to end our meal.

Our evening at Crockett’s Saloon was a delightful blend of relaxation and entertainment, making it a must-visit spot at Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. The saloon’s rustic charm and inviting atmosphere provided the perfect setting to unwind after a day at the parks.

Crockett’s Saloon boasts a small outdoor seating area and a larger indoor space. We started our evening indoors, where the cozy ambiance and large screens showing sports created a lively yet comfortable environment. For those who prefer a more intimate setting, the outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying the fresh air and the Ranch’s surroundings.

One of the highlights for us was the cocktails and the pool table. It offered a fun activity that added to the laid-back, social vibe of the saloon. We enjoyed a few games while sipping on some excellent cocktails, making for a memorable evening.

The cocktail menu was impressive and, best of all, reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised to find that a Mojito and a frozen Margarita were only 10€ each. Both cocktails were expertly crafted and delicious, providing great value compared to other Disney bars.

Overall, our experience at Crockett’s Saloon was fantastic. Whether you’re looking to catch up on some sports, enjoy a game of pool, or simply relax with a drink, this charming saloon offers something for everyone.

Breakfast at Davy Crockett

Our breakfast experience at Disney Davy Crockett Ranch was convenient yet simple. Guests can pick up their takeaway breakfast bags from a nearby collection point and enjoy them back at their cabins. The breakfast bag included pastries or cereal, milk, fruit cups, fruit juice, and a hot drink.

While the offerings were adequate for a quick start to the day, we found the simplicity of the breakfast didn’t quite meet our needs. Given that the cabins are fully equipped with kitchen facilities, we felt that preparing our own breakfast would have been a better option. Next time, we plan to make full use of the cabin’s amenities for a more personalized and hearty breakfast experience.
