Based on Our Three Years of First-Hand Experience

Our experience is that New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris has a very different rhythm from a normal park day. The morning is usually the quietest time to enjoy the parks, while crowds build through the afternoon and become much heavier as visitors prepare for the evening celebrations.

If seeing the midnight fireworks from a prime location is important to you, be prepared to wait. The best castle viewing spots can fill several hours before the fireworks begin. Visitors often choose their position early and stay there rather than trying to find a good view at the last minute.

Character meets can also become very busy, as can the dance parties. If Disneyland Paris uses the same dance party locations as in previous years, we would be cautious about taking young children to the spot on Frontierland, and instead visit Stitch New Years Eve dance party in Discoveryland. The area is relatively small and can become very crowded. We would personally choose a larger, more open location for younger children.

Cold weather is another important part of planning for New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris. We have spent the evening outside in very low temperatures, and standing around for several hours can make the cold feel much worse. We take hand warmers with us and wear thermal layers under our normal winter clothing. Comfortable shoes are also important because you may spend a long time standing or walking.

Transport has generally worked well for us after the celebrations. In previous years, free shuttle services have continued into the early hours, which has made returning to nearby accommodation easier. Transport arrangements can change, so check the information for your specific visit rather than assuming the previous year’s arrangements will be repeated.

Our Personal Recommendations

Our first recommendation is to decide what matters most to you before the crowds build. You may want to prioritise the midnight fireworks, a special meal, character experiences or the dance parties. Trying to do everything can be difficult once the park becomes busy.

If you want a prime castle view for the fireworks, arrive at your chosen viewing area several hours in advance and be prepared to stay there. The best locations are not usually something you can find at the last minute.

We also recommend checking the entertainment schedule on the day. Disney Tales of Magic is usually performed a few hours before the New Year’s Eve fireworks, which can affect the timing of other entertainment. Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade may be scheduled at a different time than you expect, for example.

For dining, our honest opinion is that the special New Year’s Eve menus are expensive. In our experience, they can cost close to double what you might normally pay for a similar meal. We would not book one simply because it is New Year’s Eve.

If you are going to pay the premium, we would prioritise a character dining experience. Seeing characters in special New Year’s Eve outfits gives you something extra that you cannot get from simply paying more for a standard meal. These reservations are also popular, so book early if this is important to you.

Finally, prepare properly for the weather. We recommend thermal layers, hand warmers and comfortable footwear. A little preparation can make a significant difference when you are outside late into the night.

Our own approach is to choose one or two priorities and build the evening around them. New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris is not a normal park day where you can arrive late and expect to see everything. A simple plan gives you a much better chance of enjoying the night without spending the evening rushing from one crowded area to another.

How we spend New Year's Eve at DLP

New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris is a long day, so the best plan depends on what you want to get from the experience. We prioritise the fireworks, but other visitors may prefer the dance parties, character meets or simply enjoying the atmosphere.

After visiting Disneyland Paris for New Year’s Eve several times, we have settled into a routine that works well for us. We arrive early, enjoy the quieter part of the day, take a break to warm up and change, then return to the park ready for the evening celebrations.

Morning: Arrive Early and Enjoy the Quieter Park

We usually arrive early on New Year’s Eve because the park is generally quieter in the morning. It does make for a very long day, so it is not the right approach for everyone. Some of our friends prefer to join us later, usually around 11am.

We have noticed that the park starts to become noticeably busier around lunchtime. Arriving early gives us time to enjoy some of our favourite attractions, meet characters and take the castle photos that are much easier to get before the crowds build.

If you are visiting with a group, this is also a good time to get some of the day’s priorities done. Popular character meets and attractions can become much more difficult later in the day as queues increase.

We also recommend taking any important New Year’s Eve photos early. If you want to wear a dress or smarter outfit for your photos, this is the time to do it. You can always change into warmer clothes later. We learned this lesson the hard way after spending enough New Year’s Eves in the cold to know that looking glamorous at midnight is not always compatible with having functioning fingers.

Afternoon: Expect the Crowds to Build

As the afternoon continues, Disneyland Park becomes busier and queues get longer. This is when the difference between a normal park day and New Year’s Eve becomes much more obvious.

You can still enjoy attractions and character experiences, but you may need more patience. If there are particular characters or rides you want to experience, we recommend prioritising them earlier in the day where possible.

This is also a good time to think about your evening plan. Decide whether the fireworks, dance parties, character meets or dining are most important to you. Trying to do everything becomes increasingly difficult as the crowds grow.

Early Evening: Take a Break and Return Warm

We usually leave the park during the late afternoon or early evening. This is not because we have finished celebrating. It is because New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris is cold, and we have learned that warming up and adding more layers makes a huge difference later in the night.

We normally aim to be back in the park at around 6pm. This gives us time to get ready for the evening celebrations without spending the entire day outside.

If you are staying at a Disney Hotel or nearby accommodation, a break can be particularly useful. Even a short rest and a change of clothes can make the difference between enjoying midnight and wondering why you voluntarily chose to stand outside in December for several hours.

Later Evening: Watch Disney Tales of Magic and Choose Your Priorities

Our priority is the midnight fireworks, so we plan the rest of the evening around finding a good viewing position.

We usually watch Disney Tales of Magic first, which is generally performed a few hours before the New Year’s Eve fireworks. Once the crowds begin to disperse after the show, some visitors head towards the dance parties or character meets. This can create an opportunity to find a better position for the midnight fireworks.

We try to choose our fireworks spot early rather than waiting until the last minute. The best views of Sleeping Beauty Castle can attract visitors several hours before midnight, so you should expect to spend a significant amount of time waiting if you want a prime location.

Once we have chosen our spot, our group takes it in turns to enjoy the rest of the evening. Some of us visit the dance parties, while others get snacks or explore what is happening around the park. This works well for us because we can enjoy different parts of the celebration without losing our chosen fireworks position.

If the dance parties are your main priority, you may want to plan the evening differently. Some visitors choose to spend more time at the dance parties and watch the fireworks from Main Street or Central Plaza. These areas can become very busy, so you should expect large crowds.

Midnight: The New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Countdown

By midnight, the park is full of people waiting for the countdown. The atmosphere is completely different from the quieter morning, with visitors gathered across Disneyland Park and waiting for the celebrations to begin.

During our most recent New Year’s Eve visit, it was extremely cold. The music and atmosphere around Main Street and Central Plaza also started later than we had experienced in previous years, with the dance music beginning at around 11.30pm rather than earlier in the evening.

That is a good reminder that entertainment timings can change from year to year and even from the schedule you may have experienced previously. We recommend checking the timings on the day rather than assuming that the previous year’s programme will be repeated.

After Midnight: Plan Your Journey Back

Once the fireworks and countdown finish, the night is not necessarily over. Visitors begin making their way out of the park, heading to dance parties, Disney Village, hotels and transport connections.

On our most recent visit, we were staying at Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe, so we simply walked back to the hotel after the celebrations. For us, staying on-site made the journey much easier.

We are also Annual Pass holders, which meant we had guaranteed park access for our visit without using one of our usual park reservations. Your own ticket or Annual Pass conditions may be different, so always check the current terms that apply to your visit.

Free shuttle services have operated into the early hours during previous New Year’s Eve celebrations, which can be useful for visitors staying at nearby accommodation. Transport arrangements can change, so check the latest information for the year you are visiting and have a plan for getting back before midnight arrives.

Our New Year’s Eve Approach

After several years of celebrating New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris, we have largely got our routine down to a tee. We visit to celebrate with friends, and that remains the most important part of the evening for us.

Our priorities are the fireworks, spending time together and enjoying the atmosphere. We have simply learned to wrap up more over the years.

If you are planning your own New Year’s Eve, we recommend choosing your main priority before the day begins. You might want the perfect castle view, a dance party, character experiences, a special meal or a mixture of everything. There is no single right way to spend the night.

Our best advice is to plan around the thing you would be most disappointed to miss. For us, that is the fireworks. For you, it might be dancing in Central Plaza at midnight or meeting a character in a special New Year’s Eve outfit.

What we've learned about New Year's Eve

After celebrating New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris for the past three years, we have learned a few things that we would have done differently when we first started visiting.

The biggest lesson is that the night is much easier to enjoy when you plan for the reality of New Year’s Eve rather than just the highlights. It is cold, crowded and very long. A little preparation makes a big difference.

Dress for midnight, not the morning. Wear thermal layers, bring hand warmers and change into warmer clothes before the evening celebrations if needed.
Choose your fireworks location early. The best views of Sleeping Beauty Castle can fill several hours before midnight.
Do not expect to move quickly around the park. Crowds can make even short journeys take much longer than usual.
Take a hotel break if you can. Warming up, resting and adding extra layers can make a big difference during the long evening.
Plan your food in advance. Restaurant reservations are popular, while special New Year’s Eve menus can be considerably more expensive than a normal meal.
Expect a very long day. Comfortable footwear, warm clothing and regular breaks are important.
Agree how your group will share the evening. Taking it in turns can allow some people to enjoy dance parties or snacks without losing your fireworks viewing position.

Dress for Midnight, Not the Morning (unless changing later in the day)

The temperature can feel manageable when you first arrive, especially if you are busy enjoying the parks. Several hours later, standing outside waiting for the fireworks is a different story.

We now wear thermal layers and take hand warmers with us. If you want to wear a dress or smarter outfit for your New Year’s Eve photos, take those photos earlier in the day and then change back into warm clothing. There is no rule saying you have to stay dressed up until midnight, and your future self will probably be grateful.

Choose Your Fireworks Location Early

If the fireworks are your priority, decide where you want to watch them well before midnight. The best views of Sleeping Beauty Castle can attract visitors several hours before the show begins.

We now choose our viewing area early and build the rest of the evening around it. Our group takes it in turns to visit dance parties, get snacks and enjoy other entertainment, while making sure that someone remains with our chosen spot.

Trying to find a perfect castle view at the last minute is unlikely to work. By then, the most popular areas are usually already full.

Do Not Assume You Can Easily Move through the Park

Once the crowds build, moving around Disneyland Park can take much longer than it does on a normal day. A route that normally takes a few minutes can become slow and difficult when large numbers of visitors are moving in the same direction.

We recommend planning your evening around your main priorities rather than constantly crossing the park. If you want to visit a dance party, collect food and return to a fireworks viewing area, think about the route before you set off.

If you are visiting as a group, agree on a meeting point before the evening becomes busy. Phone signals, low batteries and large crowds are not a great combination when everyone is trying to find each other.

Take a Hotel Break If You Can

We usually leave the park before the main evening celebrations and return later. The main reason is simple. We want to warm up, change into extra layers and rest before spending several more hours outside.

On our most recent visit, we stayed at Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe and walked back to the hotel after the celebrations. Being able to return to an on-site hotel made the evening much easier for us.

If you are staying nearby, a break can make a huge difference. New Year’s Eve is a long day, and arriving back at the park refreshed and warm is much better than trying to push through the entire day without a break.

Plan Your Food Before You Get Hungry

It is easy to focus so much on the fireworks and entertainment that you forget to plan when you are going to eat.

We recommend deciding in advance whether you want a proper meal, quick-service food or snacks throughout the evening. If you are planning to eat at a restaurant, book early because New Year’s Eve dining is popular.

Special New Year’s Eve menus can also be expensive. In our opinion, they can cost close to double the price of a more typical meal. If you are going to pay the premium, we would personally choose a character dining experience so that you get something extra from the occasion, such as characters wearing special outfits.

Expect the Night to Be Physically Tiring

New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris is a very long day. You may arrive early, spend hours walking around the parks, wait for entertainment, stand in one place for the fireworks and then stay out well past midnight.

Comfortable footwear is essential. So are warm clothes, food and regular breaks if you need them.

If you are visiting with young children, think carefully about whether they will enjoy being awake and outside so late. A full day followed by a late-night celebration can be a lot, particularly in cold weather.

Agree How Your Group Will Share the Evening

Not everyone in your group will necessarily want to do the same thing. Some people may want to stay at the fireworks viewing area, while others want to visit dance parties, meet characters or find food.

We have found that taking it in turns works well. Some of our group can explore while others hold our chosen fireworks position, then we swap around later.

Agreeing on this before the evening gets busy makes everything much easier. You can enjoy different parts of the celebration without losing the place you wanted for midnight.

Our biggest lesson is that you do not need to experience every part of New Year’s Eve to have a great night. Choose the things that matter most to you, prepare for the cold and give yourself more time than you think you need. For us, that means arriving early, taking a break to warm up, choosing our fireworks spot in good time and celebrating with friends.

New Year's Eve at Disneyland Paris

New Year’s Eve 2026 Opening Hours

Disneyland Park is expected to be the main focus of the New Year’s Eve celebrations, with the park scheduled to remain open until 1am. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the attractions, take in the festive atmosphere and find your spot for the midnight fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle.

We recommend arriving earlier in the day if you want to make the most of your visit. The morning is usually quieter, while crowds begin to build around lunchtime and become much heavier during the afternoon. Arriving early gives you time to enjoy attractions and character experiences before taking a break and returning for the evening celebrations.

Opening hours for Disney Adventure World have not yet been confirmed. This will be the first New Year’s Eve since the expansion of the park and the opening of Adventure Bay, so it remains to be seen how Disneyland Paris will use the new area during the celebrations.

There has also been no confirmation of a second New Year’s Eve fireworks show over Adventure Bay. At this stage, you should not assume that Disney Adventure World will host its own midnight fireworks display. We will update this page as soon as Disneyland Paris confirms the New Year’s Eve entertainment programme and opening hours.

One advantage of the late opening at Disneyland Park is that attraction queues can become shorter as midnight approaches, as many guests begin finding their fireworks viewing positions. On our most recent visit, we even rode Big Thunder Mountain after the midnight fireworks, which was a brilliant way to finish the celebrations.

Disney Village is expected to continue the celebrations until 3am, giving you the option to grab a late-night snack, enjoy a drink or continue the evening after the fireworks. Individual venues may have different opening hours, so check the latest information before your visit.

New Year's Eve Dining at Disneyland Paris

Special New Year’s Eve dining is available at selected Disneyland Paris restaurants, but it comes at a significant premium. Our honest advice is to think carefully about what you want from the meal before booking. If you mainly want good food, you may get better value from eating at a normal restaurant or hotel buffet before returning to the park for the evening celebrations.

We usually eat before returning to Disneyland Park at around 6pm and then have snacks later in the evening. This works well for us because we can enjoy the fireworks and entertainment without having to spend several hours of the evening sitting down for a meal.

The Best New Year’s Eve Dining for Characters

If you want something genuinely different from a normal meal, we would look first at character dining. Our friends at DLPReport always enjoy the New Years Eve character dining experiences (see photos above)

Plaza Gardens and Auberge de Cendrillon have offered special New Year’s Eve character experiences, including characters in special outfits or appearances from rarer characters. This is the main reason we would consider paying extra for a New Year’s Eve meal.

However, Plaza Gardens may be closed for refurbishment during the 2026/2027 New Year’s Eve period, so check the latest Disneyland Paris information before making plans.

Other character dining options, such as Royal Banquet and Table de Lumière, may also be available depending on the programme for the year. These experiences are considerably more expensive, so we would only recommend them if the character experience itself is important to you.

The Best Value: Hotel Buffets

For value and choice, we would personally look at the hotel buffets. They offer a wide range of food and can be a practical option before returning to the park for the evening entertainment.

We think this works particularly well for families or groups with different tastes. Everyone can choose what they want to eat, and you can have a proper meal before heading back into Disneyland Park for the fireworks, dance parties and countdown.

Hotel buffets may also offer more flexibility than the special New Year’s Eve dining experiences, with some options potentially allowing walk-ins. Availability can change, so check the arrangements for your visit.

Should You Eat Before or During the New Year’s Eve Celebrations?

Our preferred approach is to eat before returning to the park at around 6/7pm. We then buy snacks and drinks later in the evening as we wait for the fireworks.

This means we are not spending the main part of the evening sitting inside a restaurant. We can choose our fireworks viewing position, take turns visiting dance parties and collecting food, and enjoy the atmosphere around the park.

It is also worth remembering that quick-service locations do not necessarily have the same special New Year’s Eve menus. This can make them a more affordable option if you need food during the evening rather than wanting a full sit-down meal.

Are the Special New Year’s Eve Meals Worth the Price?

For us, usually not.

We have chosen not to book the special New Year’s Eve dining experiences because the prices are high. A buffet that might normally cost around €40 can rise to around €100 per person for the New Year’s Eve version. Character dining can cost even more.

That does not mean the meals are bad. The premium may be worthwhile if you want special character outfits, rare character appearances or a memorable dining experience that is part of the celebration.

We simply would not pay the extra money for the food alone. If we are spending that much on New Year’s Eve, we would rather prioritise the fireworks and the experience of celebrating with friends.

Our New Year’s Eve Dining Recommendation

If you want the most special dining experience, look at character dining options such as Plaza Gardens or Auberge de Cendrillon when they are available. The special outfits and character experiences give you something that you cannot get from a normal meal.

If you want more choice and better value, consider a hotel buffet before returning to the park.

If you want to spend as much time as possible enjoying the New Year’s Eve celebrations, eat before returning to Disneyland Park, then use quick-service locations and snacks later in the evening.

For us, the third option is the winner. We would rather have a €30 meal for two before returning to the park and spend the evening watching the fireworks than pay €100 or more per person for a special buffet.

How Much Does New Year's Eve at Disneyland Paris Cost?

There is no single price for spending New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris. Your total cost depends mainly on your park tickets or Annual Pass, flights or other transport, accommodation, food and whether you choose one of the special New Year’s Eve dining experiences.

Our biggest piece of advice is to book your flights and accommodation as early as possible. We have managed to spend around £1,000 for two people for four nights, including flights and accommodation, because we booked early. Our trip included a mixture of an off-site hotel and one night at Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe, staying there from New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Eve is not necessarily a separate ticketed event. During our recent visits, the New Year’s Eve celebrations were included with standard park admission, or as part of a Disneyland Paris hotel and ticket package.

We have an Annual Pass, so our own arrangements are different. Always check the current ticketing terms and conditions for the year you plan to visit, as Disneyland Paris can change its ticket and admission arrangements.

Flights and Transport

We usually fly from Manchester to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and then take an Uber to our accommodation. Our Uber journey from the airport has typically cost around €40, although prices can vary depending on demand, traffic and the time of day.

Flying is not the only way to reach Disneyland Paris, but it is the option we use. The cost of your journey will depend heavily on where you are travelling from and how far in advance you book.

Accommodation

Accommodation can make a significant difference to the overall cost of a Disneyland Paris New Year’s Eve trip.

For our most recent trip, we stayed in a mixture of off-site accommodation and Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe. We stayed at Santa Fe on New Year’s Eve and into New Year’s Day, which meant we could walk back to the hotel after the celebrations.

Staying on-site is not always the cheapest option, but it can make the night much easier. After spending hours in the park and staying out until after midnight, being able to walk back to your hotel is a major advantage.

Food and Drinks

We usually choose not to pay for the special New Year’s Eve dining packages. Instead, we tend to eat in Disney Village or in Val d’Europe before returning to the park at around 6pm.

For the two of us, this usually costs around €30 for a meal. Your own budget will depend on where you eat, but this can be significantly cheaper than booking one of the special New Year’s Eve dining experiences.

Quick-service restaurants generally continue to offer their normal menus and prices, while special buffets, table-service meals and character dining can cost considerably more.

Is Special New Year’s Eve Dining Worth the Extra Cost?

Our honest opinion is that the special New Year’s Eve dining experiences are expensive.

For example, we have seen special New Year’s Eve buffets priced from around €100 per person, compared with a similar normal buffet that may cost around €40. Character dining can cost even more.

We have personally chosen not to book these meals because we do not feel the premium is worth it for the food alone. If you want to spend extra on a New Year’s Eve meal, we would choose a character dining experience because the special outfits and character interactions give you something extra beyond the meal itself.

For us, the fireworks are a better use of the evening. We would rather spend less on food and put our time and money towards enjoying the celebrations.

Our Realistic Example

Our most recent trip cost around £1,000 for two people for four nights, including flights and accommodation. We booked early and stayed in a mixture of off-site accommodation and one night at Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe.

That figure should not be treated as a guaranteed price for a Disneyland Paris New Year’s Eve trip. Flight and hotel prices change significantly depending on when you book, the dates you choose and the type of accommodation you select.

However, it does show that you do not necessarily need to spend thousands of pounds on a short New Year’s Eve trip if you book early and make sensible choices about where you stay and where you eat.

The Bottom Line

The fireworks and main New Year’s Eve atmosphere may be included with your normal park admission or hotel and ticket package, but the trip itself can become expensive when you add flights, accommodation, transport and special dining.

Our biggest money-saving tip is to book your flights and accommodation early. We also recommend thinking carefully about whether a special New Year’s Eve meal is worth the extra cost for you. In our opinion, a normal meal, warm clothing and a good fireworks viewing position can provide a better experience than spending €100 or more per person on a special buffet.

Is New Year's Eve at Disneyland Paris Worth It?

For us, absolutely. New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris is one of the highlights of our year, and we usually book it early because we know we want to return. We have also made friends through our New Year’s Eve visits, which has become a big part of why we keep coming back.

That does not mean it is the right choice for everyone. New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris is cold, crowded and very long. If you do not enjoy large crowds or late nights, you may find the experience difficult. If you are visiting with young children, you also need to think carefully about how they will cope with staying awake until midnight and moving through large crowds with pushchairs or strollers.

Why We Love New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris

The fireworks are the main event for us. Watching fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle at midnight is difficult to beat.
It is a great way to celebrate with friends. For us, the people we share the evening with are just as important as the entertainment.
The atmosphere feels special. Even if New Year’s Eve celebrations in your local town can feel a little over-rated, Disneyland Paris has never given us that feeling.
You can still enjoy attractions. As midnight approaches, attraction queues can become shorter. On our most recent visit, we even rode Big Thunder Mountain after the midnight fireworks.
The whole evening feels different from a normal park day. The music, fireworks and crowds create an atmosphere that you do not get during a standard visit.

The Biggest Downsides

It is very busy. Crowds are the biggest downside for us, particularly around Central Plaza, Main Street and popular entertainment areas.
It is a very late night. Young children may struggle to stay awake until midnight, even if they have a long afternoon nap and a generous supply of sugary snacks.
Moving around can be difficult. Large crowds can make it harder to move around with pushchairs and strollers, especially later in the evening.
It is very cold. You need to prepare properly with thermal layers and hand warmers. Even dancing will not necessarily keep you warm enough for the whole night.
Special dining can be expensive. In our opinion, the premium New Year’s Eve menus are often a lot of money for an experience that is not necessarily twice as good as a normal meal.

What About the Dance Parties?

The dance parties are part of the New Year’s Eve celebrations, but they are not our main priority. If you are not close to the action, it can be difficult to see the characters clearly. This is particularly true for some of the more unusual setups, such as Stitch appearing on the roof of Starport in Discoveryland.

For us, the dance parties are often more about the music and atmosphere than getting a close-up character experience. The same kind of music and atmosphere can also be found in Central Plaza, which is why we prioritise finding a good position for the fireworks instead.

If dance parties are the main reason you want to visit, your experience may be different from ours. You may want to plan your evening around the specific characters and locations that matter most to you.

Is It Suitable for Families with Young Children?

It can be, but you need to plan carefully. Children may love the fireworks and dance parties, but staying awake until midnight is a challenge, especially after a full day in the parks.

Friends who visit with young children often plan a long afternoon nap and make sure the children have plenty of energy for the evening. Even then, the crowds can make the night more difficult, particularly if you are using a pushchair or stroller.

We would think carefully about your child’s age, sleep routine and tolerance for crowds before booking. A child who loves fireworks but hates being surrounded by large crowds may not enjoy the full New Year’s Eve experience.

Is It Worth Paying Extra for a Special New Year’s Eve Meal?

Our honest opinion is that we would not pay the premium simply for a more expensive New Year’s Eve menu. The special meals can cost significantly more than a normal meal, and we do not personally feel that the food alone always justifies the extra cost.

If you are going to spend the money, we would choose a character dining experience. Seeing characters in special New Year’s Eve outfits gives you something extra and makes the meal feel more connected to the occasion.

For us, the fireworks are where we would spend our time and money first.

Our Honest Verdict

We would book New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris again. It is one of the first things we look at booking each year, and we have made some great friendships through our visits.

For us, there is something special about celebrating with friends, enjoying a glass of champagne from a Disney castle flute and watching fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle at midnight. That is difficult to replicate in your local town.

However, we also understand why some visitors would prefer a different type of New Year’s Eve. The crowds are very large, the weather is cold and the night is tiring.

Our advice is simple:

Choose New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris if you love Disney, enjoy celebrating with friends or family, want to experience the fireworks and can cope with crowds and a very late night.
Consider another date if you dislike crowds, want a relaxed New Year’s Eve or are visiting with young children who may struggle with the late night and busy conditions.

We would also personally love to see Disneyland Paris bring back a separately ticketed after-hours New Year’s Eve party. When the event operated in that format, the lower crowds made the evening feel more manageable and, in our opinion, more enjoyable.

For us, though, the current format still works. The fireworks, the atmosphere and the chance to spend the evening with friends make New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Paris one of our favourite nights of the year.

Where you watch the fireworks can make a big difference to your New Year’s Eve experience. We always watch from Central Plaza in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, but the best location depends on whether you want the clearest castle view, more space for children, the best chance of leaving quickly or the full atmosphere of the countdown.

Best overall view: Stand in Central Plaza, behind one of the stages closest to Main Street.
Best for families with children: The back of Central Plaza behind a stage, where you can avoid putting children on your shoulders.
Best for a castle and Main Street view: Stand part way up Main Street, around the area near Walt’s Restaurant.
Best for leaving quickly: The top of Main Street, including around the gazebo, although the castle projections may be partly obscured.
Best for photographers: A higher position around the Main Street gazebo can offer a different perspective and allow photographers to frame the castle down Main Street.
Best for the full New Year’s Eve atmosphere: Enjoy the dance parties and entertainment, then watch the fireworks from Main Street.

Best for the Classic Castle View: Central Plaza

For the classic Disneyland Paris New Year’s Eve experience, we recommend Central Plaza directly in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. This is where we have watched the fireworks during our visits, and it gives you the best chance of seeing the castle projections and fireworks together.

However, you need to arrive early. For the very best spots, we recommend allowing around three to four hours before the fireworks. You can still find a good viewing position with around two hours to go, but the most popular areas will already be filling up.

One of our favourite positions is towards the back of Central Plaza, behind one of the stages closest to Main Street. This gives you a good view of the castle while reducing the chance of phones being held above your head or children being lifted onto shoulders directly in front of you.

Best for Families with Young Children: Behind a Central Plaza Stage

If you are visiting with children, we particularly like the area behind one of the stages in Central Plaza. You do not need to put children on your shoulders to give them a view, and the position can feel less frustrating than standing in a tightly packed crowd where people are constantly moving in front of you.

We would avoid the areas at the sides near Plaza Gardens or Casey’s Corner if the fireworks are your priority. Trees can obstruct the view from these locations.

If Disneyland Paris uses a similar dance party arrangement to previous years, we would also be cautious about taking young children to smaller dance party areas such as the one previously used in Frontierland. These areas can become very crowded.

Best for a Castle and Main Street View

Another option is to stand part way up Main Street, around the area near Walt’s Restaurant. This can give you a different perspective, with Sleeping Beauty Castle framed along Main Street.

The main trade-off is that you have a greater chance of people blocking your view. If your priority is seeing the fireworks and projections as clearly as possible, we would choose Central Plaza. If you want the atmosphere of Main Street and the countdown around you, this can be a good alternative.

Whether projections appear on Main Street for the New Year’s Eve celebration can vary, so check the confirmed programme for the year you visit.

Best for Leaving Quickly After Midnight: The Top of Main Street

If you want to get out of the park quickly after the fireworks, watching from the top of Main Street can make sense. Some visitors choose the area around the gazebo, which gives you a higher position and a good view of the fireworks.

The compromise is that you may have a more limited view of any projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle. If the fireworks themselves are your priority and you want to avoid being right in the middle of the largest Central Plaza crowds, this can be a practical choice.

Best for Photographers

Central Plaza can be difficult for photographers because the most popular viewing areas become crowded. Phones, heads and people moving around can all make it harder to get a clear shot.

We have seen photographers use the higher position around the Main Street gazebo, where the elevated viewpoint allows them to look down Main Street towards the castle. A longer lens can help create a different composition and frame Sleeping Beauty Castle from further away.

If you are planning to take photographs, remember that you will be outside for several hours. Cold temperatures can affect both you and your camera equipment, so plan accordingly.

Reserved Viewing and Accessibility

Disneyland Paris don’t offer a reserved viewing area for the New Year’s Eve fireworks at an additional cost.

There is usually be a designated roped-off viewing area in front of the castle for guests with disabilities. This area has limited capacity and cannot accommodate every guest who may require an accessible viewing position, so check the current accessibility arrangements with Disneyland Paris before your visit.

Our Recommendation

For us, the best viewing position is behind one of the stages in Central Plaza, particularly the stages closest to Main Street. We have found this gives us a strong view of the castle while reducing the chance of people directly in front of us blocking the fireworks.

If you want the clearest possible view of the full castle show, arrive early and commit to Central Plaza. If you care more about the overall New Year’s Eve atmosphere and want to enjoy the dance parties before watching the fireworks, Main Street may suit you better.

There is no single perfect location for everyone. The best spot is the one that matches what you would be most disappointed to miss.
