DISNEY HOTEL CHEYENNE VS SEQUOIA LODGE

IS IT WORTH UPGRADING TO SEQUOIA LODGE

Disney Hotel Cheyenne or Disney Sequoia Lodge: Is the Upgrade Worth the Price?

Cheyenne Vs Sequoia Lodge: Is it worth the upgrade?

Updated 20th July 2025

Ah, the great Disneyland Paris hotel dilemma: Cheyenne or Sequoia Lodge? One’s got cowboy boots and Toy Story charm, the other’s a cosy forest retreat with serious lodge-core vibes. And truthfully? These are two of our absolute favourite hotels at Disneyland Paris, which makes choosing between them even trickier.

If you’re comparing Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge, you’re not alone. They’re both on-site Disney hotels, both come with that all-important Extra Magic Time, and both keep you wrapped up in Disney magic from check-in to bedtime. But while they sit close together on the map, they offer totally different experiences — and depending on what you value most, one might suit your stay just a little bit better.

Cheyenne is full-on Pixar meets the Wild West. Expect saloon doors, wooden porches, and rooms where Woody and Jessie would feel right at home. It’s fun, playful, and ideal for families on a budget. Sequoia Lodge, on the other hand, is calm, cosy, and surrounded by trees — think Bambi decor, soft lighting, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to unwind with a hot chocolate (or something stronger) by the fire.

We’ve stayed at both (more than once — all in the name of research!), and we genuinely love them for different reasons. Whether you’re heading to Disneyland Paris as a family, a couple, or just looking for a relaxing Disney break, we’re breaking it all down — from room types and walking routes to shuttle quirks, and those small-but-mighty details that will help you decide which hotel is best Cheyenne or Sequoia.

Cheyenne vs Sequoia: Quick Overview

If you’re short on time or just want an overview, here’s a quick side-by-side to help you decide between Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge at Disneyland Paris.

  • Theme: Cheyenne is full-on cowboy town, straight out of Toy Story, with wooden porches and Wild West charm. Sequoia Lodge feels like a cosy woodland escape — all warm woods, forest trails, and Bambi decor.
  • Rooms: Both offer fun Disney theming, but Sequoia’s rooms feel a touch more grown-up and tranquil. Cheyenne wins for families with bunk beds in most rooms, while Sequoia offers a more hotel-like comfort.
  • Facilities: Sequoia has the upper hand here — it’s got a pool, fitness centre, and a popular bar with a fireplace. Cheyenne keeps it simpler with a playground, pony rides, a fun saloon bar, and a well-loved buffet restaurant.
  • Food & Drink: Both offer hearty buffet breakfasts and dinners, but Sequoia also serves up raclette cheese (a fan favourite). Cheyenne leans more BBQ and Western grub, ideal for hungry cowboys.
  • Distance to the Parks: On foot, Sequoia is closer — a scenic walk along Lake Disney. By shuttle, Cheyenne is quicker thanks to its position near the bus terminal. Go figure.
  • Accessibility: Both hotels offer accessible rooms. Just note that Cheyenne doesn’t have lifts, so if stairs are a concern, you’ll want to request a ground-floor room.

We’ve stayed at both hotels, and after comparing everything from rooms and theming to food, characters, and those all-important extras, here’s how it shook out:

Final Score: SEQUOIA LODGE WINS!
Hotel Cheyenne: 5 | Sequoia Lodge 7

If you want a peaceful, comfy retreat with a fantastic pool, cozy vibes, and a bit of rustic charm, Sequoia is our favourite pick. It just edges ahead thanks to its relaxed atmosphere and thoughtful extras.

That said, if you’re after bold theming, air-conditioned rooms, and some classic Wild West fun — plus a lower price if you don’t mind skipping the pool, Hotel Cheyenne is a fantastic choice and great value.

Both hotels have their unique charms, so whichever you pick, you’re in for a memorable Disneyland Paris stay.

Comparing Character Meets

If meeting Disney characters is high on your list (or your little one’s), both Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge offer some lovely moments — but the vibes are very different.

At Hotel Cheyenne, it’s all about the Wild West duo: Woody and Jessie. They’re usually out in the mornings, dressed in their signature outfits, and the setting couldn’t be more perfect. Seeing Woody waving from a wooden porch or Jessie striking a pose by the saloon makes the whole cowboy town feel alive. It’s a small line-up, but it really fits the theme — especially if you’ve got a Toy Story fan in tow.

Sequoia Lodge, on the other hand, goes big on variety. You’ll often find Donald Duck, Max, and Goofy, all kitted out in their exclusive wilderness explorer outfits — which you won’t see anywhere else in the resort. Minnie Mouse also makes surprise appearances from time to time.

Character meets: Who wins?

Sequoia Lodge wins for characters, its broader character variety in unique outfits is something extra special compared to the Cheyenne meet and greets, as you can meet them every day in the Studios.

Theme – Wild West or Woodland Retreat?

When it comes to choosing between Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge, theming is a big deal — especially if you’re travelling with kids, or you’re the kind of Disney adult who gets unreasonably excited about a well-themed hallway (we see you, and we salute you).

Disney Hotel Cheyenne: Saddle Up for the Wild West

Cheyenne is a full-on Toy Story cowboy fantasy. We’re talking wooden walkways, saloon-style doors, and buildings that look like they’ve been lifted straight out of a Western movie, with just the right amount of Pixar sparkle.

The Toy Story touches are subtle but spot-on, and the whole place feels playful and immersive without going over the top. Whether you’re a kid or just young at heart, it’s easy to feel like you’ve stepped into your own rootin’ tootin’ adventure. It’s especially magical for families with Toy Story fans — there’s something about seeing Woody and Jessie in their “natural habitat” that just hits differently.

Sequoia Lodge: Step into the Woods

Sequoia Lodge is a different kind of Disney magic — more tranquil forest retreat, less theme park energy. Inspired by the grand lodges of American national parks, it swaps cowboys for calm, with wood-panelled interiors, stone fireplaces, and Bambi nods in the decor.

The setting, right by Lake Disney and tucked among the trees, really adds to the vibe. It’s warm, it’s peaceful, and it’s perfect if you love a more relaxed, grown-up atmosphere. It’s also a dream in winter. There’s just something about walking into that lobby with a chill in the air and seeing the fire glowing.

Theme: Who wins?

Honestly? It depends on your mood.
  • Cheyenne is playful, immersive, and great fun for families — especially younger kids or Toy Story lovers.
  • Sequoia Lodge is cosy, peaceful, and a little more refined, ideal for couples or guests who want a break from the high energy of the parks.
For us, Cheyenne wins on immersive Disney theming, while Sequoia scores points for ambience and comfort. So we’re calling this one a draw — and a win for anyone who appreciates a bit of magic in their hotel surroundings. Score: Hotel Cheyenne: 1 | Sequoia Lodge 2

2026 Refurbishment at Sequoia Lodge

Heads up if you’re planning a trip in 2026: Sequoia Lodge is set to undergo a major refurbishment. The good news? The hotel will stay open throughout, with work happening in phases — so it won’t be a full-on construction site.

That said, expect some areas to be closed or look a bit less magical during your stay. The exact details haven’t been revealed yet (classic Disneyland Paris style), but if you’re visiting in 2026 (and maybe 2027), it’s worth keeping this in mind.

If you’re after peace and quiet — and want to be sure everything at your hotel is up and running — Cheyenne might be the safer choice during Sequoia’s refurbishment period. Or, if having a pool is a dealbreaker, it might be worth looking at Disney’s Newport Bay Club instead. Either way, it’s always a good idea to check with Disney directly for the latest updates before you book.

Compare Rooms and Facilities

When you’re spending your Disney trip away from the parks, comfort really matters. After all, nothing beats a cosy room to recharge before another big day of magic. So, how do Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge compare when it comes to rooms and facilities?

Cheyenne Room Options

First up, the classic Woody’s Roundup Standard Room. You get either 2 double beds or 1 double bed with a pull-out bed, so it works well for couples or families who need a bit of extra space. If you want to be close to the hotel’s buzz — like the reception and restaurants — check out the Woody’s Roundup Standard Rooms near hotel facilities. They offer the same bedding options but put you right near the action, which is handy for quick trips back to your room. For those who prioritise a quick walk to the parks, the Woody’s Roundup River Side Rooms are the pick. These rooms are a little further from reception but sit along the river and walking path, meaning you’re closer to Disneyland’s gates. Same bedding setup here: 2 double beds or 1 double and 1 pull-out.

Sequoia Lodge Room Options

Starting with the Standard Room, which comes with 2 double beds and comfortably sleeps up to 4 people — great for families or couples wanting a bit more space.

Want to be closer to the hotel’s main spots? The Standard Rooms near hotel facilities are located in the main building or blocks close to reception and restaurants, with the same comfortable bedding.

If you’re after a scenic vibe, the Lake Side Rooms face Lake Disney. Heads up — a lake view isn’t guaranteed, but these rooms still offer the same 2 double beds and the convenience of being near the hotel’s amenities.

Accessibility and Layout

Both hotels provide accessible rooms, so that’s sorted for anyone who needs it. One important thing to note — Cheyenne doesn’t have lifts, thanks to its low-rise Wild West village design, so if stairs are a challenge, request a ground-floor room.

Sequoia Lodge does have lifts, making it easier to navigate with luggage or mobility concerns.

Rooms: Who wins?

Some people have said that sequoia rooms are in the need of a refresh (happening soon!) but in our opinion sequoia wins points for space and additional plug points.

But Cheyenne scores big for family-friendly layouts and remember that both hotels offer all-important air conditioned rooms, which can make a huge difference in summer.

Food, Coffee, Bars and Lounges

After a whirlwind day of rides, parades, and maybe one too many churros, finding a great spot to eat and unwind is a must. Both Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge deliver solid dining options, but they each bring their own flavour to the table.

Buffet Battles: Chuck Wagon Café vs Hunters Grill (and Beaver Creek Tavern)

At Hotel Cheyenne, the Chuck Wagon Café is where the Wild West comes alive with hearty buffet options. It’s cosy and full of character, perfectly matching that cowboy vibe. The food’s straightforward but tasty — think classic favourites that please both kids and adults.

Over at Sequoia Lodge, you’ve got two very similar buffet spots: Hunters Grill and Beaver Creek Tavern. Despite the different names, the menus are practically twins — offering all-you-can-eat choices that cater to families and groups. Both restaurants keep things comforting and casual, though they don’t quite have the rustic charm of Cheyenne’s Chuck Wagon.

A shout-out here for Sequoia’s raclette cheese — it’s a popular pick if you’re into that melty, cheesy goodness. Still, when it comes to food options overall, we lean slightly towards Cheyenne’s offerings for variety and atmosphere.

Bars: Red Garter Saloon vs Sequoia Lounge

When it’s time for a post-park drink, Cheyenne’s Red Garter Saloon is an absolute treat. The themed saloon setting, complete with saddle seats and western décor, is a fun spot to relax and swap stories from your day. It’s lively without being overwhelming — and that classic Wild West charm makes it feel special.

Sequoia Lodge’s bar is a different vibe altogether — much larger, cozier, and way more sophisticated. Picture comfy sofas gathered around a roaring open fire, especially magical during the festive season with all the Christmas decorations. It’s less about the theme and more about creating a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere where you can truly unwind.

Starbucks and In-Room Drinks: What You Get

Here’s one area where Cheyenne scores a bonus — it’s the only one with a Starbucks on site, perfect for grabbing a quality coffee on the go or a little afternoon pick-me-up. Both hotels offer tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, so you can enjoy a cuppa whenever you like.

Food & Drink: Who Wins?

It’s close, but Cheyenne just nudges ahead thanks to its unique Wild West dining experience and that handy Starbucks. Sequoia’s bar steals the show for relaxing evenings, but overall, Cheyenne’s food and drink (and Starbucks!) options feel a little more memorable.

Hotel Cheyenne: 2 | Sequoia Lodge 3

Location & Getting to the Parks

When it comes to getting from your hotel to the magic, location really matters — especially after a long day walking the parks in comfy shoes that suddenly feel a bit less comfy.

Walking vs Shuttle: What’s Easier?

Both Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge are within easy walking distance of Disneyland Paris parks, unlike Walt Disney World where hotels can be miles away, here a stroll is totally manageable. Walking gives you a chance to enjoy the beautiful lakeside paths and fresh air, which we love, especially after a busy park day.

Walking to the parks from either hotel is a great way to start or finish your day. From Sequoia, you’ll follow the lakeside path — it’s peaceful, scenic, and feels a little like a mini nature walk. It’s also the shorter route overall, so if you enjoy a relaxing stroll, Sequoia’s your pick.

Cheyenne’s walk takes you along the river and past Sequoia, so it’s a bit longer but still lovely. It also gives you a chance to soak up that Wild West hotel vibe before diving into the parks. The paths are well-maintained, flat, and stroller-friendly — no worries if you have little ones or mobility needs.

That said, FREE shuttle buses are available if your feet need a break or you’re carrying little ones. Cheyenne has a dedicated shuttle stop right by the hotel, so hopping on and off is super convenient. Sequoia shares its shuttle with Hotel New York, meaning the route is a bit longer

Is One Hotel Closer to the parks?

On foot, Sequoia Lodge actually wins for proximity. The walk is shorter and more scenic, taking you along the lake and through lovely woodland surroundings — a peaceful way to start or end your day. Cheyenne’s walk is a bit longer since you have to pass by Sequoia along the river, but it’s still very doable and charming in its own right.

Location: Who wins?

This ones a confusing one. Location wise Sequoia is closer to the parks, and if you are walking to the parks Sequoia wins every day! But if shuttle convenience and quicker bus rides are your priority, Cheyenne wins as the bus ride is much shorter and dedicated to the hotel. I guess we have to give both a point!

Hotel Facilities and Extras

When it comes to keeping the whole family happy, both Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge have plenty to offer — each with its own style of fun and relaxation.

Hotel Cheyenne: Cowboys, Forts & Festive Cheer

Cheyenne really leans into its Wild West theming with some lovely little seasonal touches and fun extras. For starters, there’s the Children’s Corner in the lobby — a cosy space where little ones can chill out (under the watchful eye of a grown-up) while you take a breather or figure out the day’s ride strategy.

Outside, you’ve got the Fort Apache play area, a rustic playground that keeps kids busy exploring while grown-ups grab a coffee or just enjoy five minutes off their feet. It’s not just a playground — it feels like part of the adventure.

And here’s the big one: in the warmer months, pony rides are available right outside the hotel. Seeing kids light up as they saddle up for a trot around is one of those “aww” moments you don’t forget. There’s a small charge and it’s weather dependent, but it’s a brilliant way to start or end a day of Disney.

During the festive season, both hotels get a touch of Christmas magic — mainly in the lobby areas — with decorations and a bit of extra sparkle that makes returning “home” after a wintry park day feel all the more magical.

Seqoia Lodge: Swimming pools and more!

Sequoia Lodge feels like a cozy mountain retreat, surrounded by towering trees and that warm, woodsy charm. Inside, the Little Prairie Kids Corner is a quiet haven where kids can unwind with cartoons and video games while parents relax nearby — perfect for a calm break after a busy park day.

For water lovers, the real highlight is the Quarry Pool, which features both indoor and outdoor heated pools with a fun slide and water games that keep kids entertained for hours. It’s a big win for families wanting a splash without leaving the hotel. Plus, Sequoia is actually the most affordable on-site hotel with a pool at Disneyland Paris, which makes it a great budget-friendly option for families.

And just like Cheyenne, during the festive season, the hotel comes alive with Christmas decorations and a cosy atmosphere that adds a sprinkle of holiday magic to your stay, making it feel like a true home away from home after a chilly day in the parks.

Factilities and Extras: Who wins?

If you’re after classic outdoor family fun and that immersive Wild West feel, Cheyenne may take the lead with play areas and pony rides (just remember those rides are extra). But if a pool with a water slide is a must-have, Sequoia Lodge has you covered — and it’s the cheapest on-site hotel with this feature.

Adults will appreciate the gym at Sequoia, too. Both hotels bring plenty to the table, but Sequoia just wins due to the pool and no additional charges!

Which One’s Cheaper?

Let’s be honest, planning a Disneyland Paris trip means juggling your budget like a pro. Both Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge sit comfortably in the “on-site but wallet-friendly” zone, but there are some pricing differences and handy tips to know before you hit that book button.

Price Comparison Tips

Generally, Sequoia tends to be the more expensive than Cheyenne, often by around £20–£50 per night depending on the season. It’s known as one of the cheapest Disneyland Paris hotels that actually has a pool (and yes, it even has a slide!), making it a top pick if you want to stay on-site without breaking the bank.

That said, Cheyenne isn’t far behind on price. In fact, thanks to Disney’s availability pricing model, we’ve sometimes seen Cheyenne priced higher than Sequoia! Lately, Cheyenne has been featuring more promotions and discounts, especially on packages that include both hotel and park tickets. So it’s always worth checking both before booking

One thing to keep in mind — prices can vary depending on your room location within each hotel. Rooms closer to the main facilities or with river views sometimes come with a slightly higher price tag, so keep an eye on the room types when booking.

How to Get the Best Deal

Now for the fun part — saving money. Here are a few of our go-to tips for finding the best price:

  • Book as early as possible – Disney’s uses a price availability pricing model, so as rooms book up, the price goes up!
  • Keep an eye out for flash sales and seasonal deals, sign up to our free newsletter and we’ll keep you up to date!
  • Consider travelling in low or mid-season – prices can drop dramatically outside of school holidays.
  • Packages are usually better value than separate bookings, especially if you’re buying park tickets too.

Who wins?

On paper, Cheyenne often claims the crown for cheapest hotel when comparing the two, making it a strong choice if budget is your absolute priority. But we always recommend to use the DLP Price estimator to compare dates and prices, and you may be surprised as how close the prices are. On price alone, Cheyenne Wins, but if you add in all the extras at Sequoia that would win. Its another close call, with both hotels taking a point! Score: Hotel Cheyenne: 4 | Sequoia Lodge 6

So, Which Hotel Should You Choose?

Comparing Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge comes down to what kind of Disneyland Paris experience you want. Both offer easy access to the parks and plenty of Disney magic, but each hotel has its own vibe and perks that suit different types of guests.

Best for Families with Young Kids

If you’re traveling with kids and want great value, Hotel Cheyenne is a top pick. Its fun Wild West theming, air-conditioned rooms, and family-friendly extras like pony rides and outdoor play areas make it a hit with little ones. It’s usually cheaper than Sequoia and just a little closer to the parks — perfect for quick returns during the day or fast dashes to parades.

That said, Sequoia Lodge is also a fantastic option for families, especially if having a swimming pool (with a slide!) is important to you. It’s the cheapest on-site Disney hotel with a pool, set in a peaceful woodland setting, giving kids plenty of space to splash around and adults a relaxing environment to unwind.

Best for Couples or Adults

Looking for a peaceful, nature-filled retreat with a bit more space? Sequoia Lodge is ideal for couples or guests who want a quieter atmosphere. The cozy, spacious rooms, scenic woodland setting, and relaxing swimming pool with a slide create a calm escape after busy park days. The larger bar with an open fire adds a special touch, especially during the festive season.

Our Final Thoughts and Favourite Pick

Both Hotel Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge rank as two of our absolute favourite budget hotels at Disneyland Paris — and that’s saying something, considering how many times we’ve stayed at both! Out of all the hotels we compare, this one is by far the toughest to call a clear winner.

If we had to pick just one, Sequoia Lodge edges it for us. The peaceful woodland setting, the fantastic pool with a slide, and the cozy atmosphere make it a perfect retreat after busy park days.

That said, if you find a big price difference and don’t plan to spend much time at the pool (like us, who rarely use it!), Cheyenne is a brilliant choice too. With its lively Wild West theming, air-conditioned rooms, and fun extras, it offers great value and a genuinely memorable stay.

At the end of the day, you really can’t go wrong with either — we’re confident you’ll be happy with both options. (Both get a point!)
